~ Zoo - Collateral design ~

Menu design & taking the brand further.

Alongside the initial logo design the cafe needs a solid brand identity, menu design, online presence and other collateral.

A great example of a brand that flows really well between logo, packaging and menu is Ida's Fish bar. The brand identity has also been informed by the interior design within the cafe.

As you can see the colour, type and general aesthetic is consistent throughout; making it really memorable and attractive to potential customers. I love the idea of having a 'takeaway' bag specifically printed with the cafes branding and will be suggesting this idea to Zoo also.

I found this loose colour scheme and felt it was perfect for representing the very positive, friendly and nature-loving environment of the cafe. The warmer colours representing positivity and friendship and the greens representing the natural element within the name ad fact its vegetarian.

I wanted to go down the route of something informed by the really organic and environmentally considerate nature of the food and also community/hand-made vibe the cafe has. I felt using hand rendered textures to express this was perfect and fitted with the colour scheme nicely too.

I experimented with different competitions and colour scheme variations.

Experiments for the inside of the menu - Using the same title typeface for all subheadings, continuing the brand identity and showing a hierarchy of importance within the type layout. Using a hand rendered effect also to continue the themes throughout. Then using a typewriter font for the body copy typeface - representative of hand crafted and personal vibes but more legible and readable than using the title typeface smaller.

These are some further developments in terms of menu design - simplifying but keeping the hand rendered aesthetic.

This is my final aesthetic proposal for the client, using bold bright colours that say friendly and vegetarian well. A hand rendered themed aesthetic is suggestive of the personal and community lead vibe of the cafe.
