Initial experiment with illustrating over images - I feel however with experimentation it could be successful - I am looking for portfolio pieces that simply express my personal style of design.
I have decided instead to produce abstract images of each planet, depicting the colours and textures of each. I wanted to create something positive, bubbly and possibly inspired by Japanese style graphic design.
This style of design is extremely 'cartoonised', positive and colourful. I feel its an interesting way of creating abstract imagery without falling back onto the 'overdone' hand rendered images often used when depicting planets and space themed things.
Mercury
Colours - Greys, Orange and Blue.
Venus
Colours - Orange, Yellow
Saturn
Rings
Colours - Yellow, sand, blue, purple
Mars
Colours - red red red the red planet
Jupiter
Big
Colours - Grey, orange, blue, brown
Uranus
minimal, smooth
Colours - light blue
Neptune
Blue, blue
Earth
Life, Land and sea, blue, green, brown
Due to the illustrations I was creating being simple and abstract I didn't want it to be really obvious which planet was which but I wanted them to follow the general colour scheme and any key attributes of each. So I wrote out a simple list of colours and things to consider when designing each planet.
